Getting Your Leisure Facility Ready to Re-open
Following the last lockdown in Spring 2020, many gyms and leisure facilities had to put in place stringent measures in order to re-open safely. For many this included the wearing of PPE by staff and members, multiple sanitisation stations being available in key locations and cleaning products provided to wipe down equipment after use. Owners of these facilities and their management companies had to implement a rigorous, on-going cleaning regime as well as carrying out deep sanitisation cleans on a regular basis.
Scheduling & tasking
Personalise your disinfection schedule and tasks with ease.
During non-working hours, the robots will automatically set to charge.
Disinfection in 10 - 15 minutes
Destroys 99.9% of germs & pathogens in all environments & across all surfaces.
As disinfection is chemical free, there's no need to wait for disinfection agents to settle.
Autonomous or Manual Control
Remotely or manually operate the robots.
Task the robot manually or remotely to clean immediately, or schedule cleaning for a later time.
Notifications & cleaning reports
Receive notifications and reports before and after scheduled cleaning.
Keep an up to date disinfection record and monitor disinfection outcomes.
Leisure Facility Cleaning Guidelines
When the time comes to re-open, leisure facilities will be able to find general cleaning guidelines on the UK Government website, but in a nutshell should follow these simple procedures to keep staff and members safe:
Maintain good ventilation in a sports, gym or leisure facility as coronavirus stays longer on indoor surfaces. It’s best to open windows and doors as often as possible.
All areas where people train and work out (including cardio and stationary gym equipment as well as free weights, mats, balls, etc) should be cleaned between use using appropriate disinfectants and cleaning products. If equipment cannot be cleaned after each user it should not be used at all.
Frequently touched surfaces should also be sanitised and cleaned on a regular basis throughout opening hours. These include door handles, light switches, cash tills and windows.
Maintain rigorous cleaning procedures, reviewing and adapting where necessary including high-risk spaces such as main thoroughfares, touch points and walls and floors in circulation routes (corridors, lifts, foyers, landings, stairs and lobbies).
Pay special attention to changing rooms including showers, sinks and other water systems. This is not only to help stop the spread of virus but also minimise the risk of legionella and other diseases. Lockers should either be kept free of personal items or products provided to wash these down after use.
Carry out a frequent, deep sanitisation clean of all areas to eliminate viruses and bacteria from all surfaces.
Vitality Health & Fitness
One gym group who has taken their approach to sanitisation up to the next level is Vitality Health & Fitness which has two gyms, one in Neath and the other in Port Talbot.
When the gyms re-opened in Summer 2020, the team followed all of the above guidelines as well as taking all members’ and visitors’ temperatures on arrival and providing towels for individuals to clean down equipment during their training sessions.
In anticipation of a date when they can welcome back members, Vitality recently invited the team from Evolve Raybotix in Swansea to give a demonstration and trial sanitisation of their state-of-the-art disinfection robots at their Neath gym. The UV-C light used in the robot technology, in combination with Ozone gas, can destroy 99.9% of dangerous bacteria, microorganisms, germs and pathogens in all environments across all surfaces.
Importantly, the Raybotix robots can be programmed to schedule a disinfection of a room or dedicated area either remotely or manually to allow for a cleaning process to suit operational needs, either during working or non-work hours. Through the use of Lidar sensors, these robots will map a surrounding area before the disinfection cycle begins which allows for the pinpointing of optimum positioning of the machine.
Says Dan Morgan, Manager at Vitality Health & Fitness, “Gyms have been hit really hard due to Covid-19 and we’ve been shut down for around nine months out of the last 15. We did have a little bit of resistance at first, as people don’t like change. So, we tried a few different methods like blue roll and towels. I came across Evolve Raybotix via Facebook. I’m sure that most people are aware that gyms are a touch sensitive area in general, as every client that comes in here will each touch eight to 10 pieces of kit on average. By bringing the Raybotix in and using them frequently, we have that added bonus as it’s proven to destroy bacteria.” Listen to more of Dan’s comments here:
Both our NEO and EOS models were tested at Vitality and as mentioned by Dan, the results were very impressive in this particular environment where there are multiple surfaces due to the extensive gym equipment in place.
And you don’t have to take our word for how important it is for gym members to feel safe in this environment. Vitality member Mike Sagatis shares his views here:
Book a FREE Evolve Raybotix Robot Demonstration
Evolve Raybotix robots can disinfect and sanitise any environment in a chemical free and environmentally friendly way by deconstructing ozone back into oxygen at the end of the disinfection cycle rendering disinfected spaces and leaving no harmful residues.
One of the key safety measures associated with our robots includes the fact that these disinfecting machines come with an inbuilt, automatic detections system which ensures that the unit stops automatically if the sensor identifies motion in the room.
If minimising risk and instilling public confidence is high on your agenda to reduce the spread of viruses, then a Raybotix robot is the solution. Approved as medical devices, these machines are ideal for venues such as gyms and leisure centres which need to implement thorough and consistent cleansing processes to protect staff, members and other visitors on a daily basis.
