Are You Serious About Covid Safety in your Workplace?
It was widely reported on the Welsh news channels recently that hundreds of staff at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in Swansea began a four-day strike, in a dispute over Covid-related safety. The discomfort of staff returning to work since the pandemic hit is not uncommon and the concerns regarding varied approaches to workplace safety are frequently reported.

Failure to Follow Covid Secure Rules
This story, along with a summary of a survey of more than 2,100 workplaces safety representatives by the TUC which found that many employers are failing to follow Covid-secure rules, was covered in an interesting and informative article published by Swansea-based HR consultancy, Personology.
This article state that, “While workplace Health and Safety Regulations has been a top priority for employers and HR professions amid the pandemic, recent data has unveiled widespread covid-secure failures. This is likely to be a cause of concern for the HR function; not only seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases again, but also the risk of Tribunal cases for non-compliance and breach of Health & Safety Regulations and Government safety guidelines.” Read full article here.
The team at Evolve Raybotix are currently in discussion with a number of both public and private sector organisations to introduce state-of-the-art, UV-C disinfection robots supported by ozone into workplaces to make them safe for both staff and visitors alike.
Effectiveness of Evolve Raybotix Robots
The reason these robots are becoming the first-choice disinfection and sanitisation solution for employers across the UK is because they tick all the boxes when it comes to reducing the risk of infections rising again when workplaces reopen.
Importantly, Evolve Raybtoix robots, which are classified as a medical device, destroy microorganisms’ DNA structures, quickly and safely eradicating 99.9% of harmful bacteria and viruses. These robots can also be programmed to clean as frequently as required with different models offering various levels of coverage according to the size and type of work space.
What’s more, unlike other disinfection equipment, such as fogging machines or portable Ozone boxes, UV-C disinfection robots sanitise all spaces in an environmentally friendly and chemical-free way leaving no harmful residues.

From a practical perspective, Evolve Raybotix robots are not reliant on people to operate them. They can be programmed manually or remotely to schedule a disinfection of a shop or dedicated area to allow for a cleaning process to suit your operational needs, either during working or non-work hours.
Avoiding Enforcement Action
The Personology article concludes by saying, “If any employee is found to have contracted Covid whilst at work it is the responsibility of the employer to take all reasonable measures possible to follow the Government Regulations and Statutory Guidance in order to operate safely. It is imperative that ALL businesses make the correct provisions to ensure the safety of their staff. Failure to comply with the relevant public health legislation could result in enforcement action by the relevant authorities.”
